Google Gears for work?
Google annouce their Gears API today, which sounds like a really good idea. I skim through the developer docs and even I might be able to write some simple “Hello World” type apps. Which got me thinking this stuff might be good for other stuff too, in particular I am thinking about using a wiki behind a firewall.
Instead of logging into work through VPN just to edit a few lines on the wiki, it would be great to be able to do everything offline, like linking to other pages, being able to see previous revisions… and then have it sync in the morning when I get back to work. I mean this will actually make me want to make updates to the wiki instead of sending myself notes/emails about things I want to write in the morning because I was having problems with VPN keep dropping connections 🙂
